Requirements

  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent
  • Ability to effectively present technical information to colleagues
  • Mathematical skills: As per mechanical engineering degree requirements.
  • SolidWorks, EPDM, Fusion 360 AutoCAD experience a plus
  • Manufacturing/Inventory software
  • Spreadsheet and word processor software
  • Behavioral Competencies:
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to perform as part of an interdisciplinary team involving Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, and Chemists
  • Technical Competencies:
  • Engineering expertise – machine design, stress analysis, strength of materials, metallurgy, thermodynamics, heat transfer, mechanical energy, and fluid power.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks 2018 or later version.
  • Ability to perform FEA using SolidWorks Simulation package or ANSYS.
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations using Mathcad and Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of drafting principles.
  • Design creativity.
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Software.
  • Familiarity with CNC and additive manufacturing techniques
  • Hands-on mechanical/manufacturing background a plus
  • Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:
  • The primary location for this position is an office environment.
  • Rig yard trips may be expected from time to time.

Responsibilities

  • Model mechanical design concepts using 3D parametric software.
  • Perform engineering calculations as required.
  • Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) as needed.
  • Check and release drawings produced by designers and drafters.
  • Prepare assembly instructions.
  • Prepare bills of material.
  • Provide technical support to Quality, Manufacturing, and Marketing.
  • Interface with vendors and customers to provide technical support.
  • Participate in company safety meetings and safety awareness.
  • Perform tolerance stack-up verification.
  • Assist with prototype assembly in the shop and yard.
  • Diagnose problems with mechanical designs and generate solutions.
  • Manufacture components using available machines
  • Other duties may be assigned.
