Requirements

HND/Degree/MSc Student, or recent graduate in relevant subject looking for work experience
Self-motivated, proactive and organised
Strong communicator and collaborative, effective working as part of a team
Confident to work in a busy, fast-paced laboratory environment
Focused on quality with strong attention to detail and excellent record keeping
Interested to learn more about Molecular Biology techniques such as DNA/RNA extraction, qPCR, digital droplet PCR, sequencing and/or blotting

Responsibilities

As a student intern you will be based within the Molecular Biology department at BioReliance® Contract Testing Services in Glasgow, UK. In Molecular Biology, we perform biosafety testing on behalf of our Clients using laboratory techniques such as DNA/RNA extractions, quantitative PCR, digital droplet PCR, Sanger sequencing and Southern blotting.
The role will be based in the laboratory. You will initially be required to undertake training to perform routine laboratory procedures, recording these activities on the required documentation. You will also be responsible for supporting with housekeeping, stock control and organisation of the laboratory to ensure its smooth running.
