Requirements

  • You must be currently enrolled in a degree program and be in good academic standing to be considered.
  • Ability to participate in our hybrid 10-week internship that takes place from June 2, 2025 - August 8, 2025 working a full-time schedule.
  • Current enrollment at Texas Southern University in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree majoring in Telecommunications, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related majors with a completion date between December 2027 and June 2028.
  • Coursework or demonstrated experience in TCP/IP Protocols.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship.
  • Willingness to travel and work in an assigned Verizon office.
  • Knowledge of LAN, WAN, MPLS systems.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.
  • Demonstrated strong written and communication skills.
  • Report Automation (Tableau).
  • Project management software (ex: JIRA).
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with Computer-Aided Design (CAD).
  • Knowledge of electromagnetics and optics.

Responsibilities

  • Managing a wide range of internal and external partners and vendors on all aspects of network construction and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with partners to establish project designs, scope, deliverables and timelines.
  • Designing and managing activities that allow the company to continue delivering value. These activities typically consist of managing the operations process, inspecting for quality, and maintaining and transporting materials.
  • Operates and monitors building facilities mechanical components and electrical equipment and systems in accordance with SOPs (standard operating procedures).
  • Assists engineers in developing methods and procedures to control or improve facilities processes.
  • Implement various types of construction projects based on the needs and requests of the business.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to establish project designs, scope, deliverables and timelines as well as keeping them abreast on project status.
