Requirements

  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
  • Capable of conducting multiple assignments concurrently and working well within a team environment
  • Familiarity with NYC and regional transit agencies and transportation policies
  • Proficiency with communication, presentation, and data analysis tools
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite and ArcGIS
  • A strong work ethic with the desire to learn and achieve
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Qualifications:
  • Candidates must be a current student working towards their Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in urban planning, transportation planning or engineering or related field

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with numerous VHB staff, clients, and consultants to advance projects in a timely manner
  • Assist in development of transit planning studies and solutions
  • Compile and analyze transit data
  • Preparation of GIS-based mapping and graphics
  • Support public and stakeholder engagement activities
  • Prepare written documents, summarize information collected by others, and assemble reports
  • Conducting site visits for various transit projects, as needed
  • Consulting with transit agencies
  • Coordinating and taking direction from project team members
