Requirements

  • High School Diploma, or equivalency
  • Currently enrolled in a Utah institution of higher education.
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to analyze complex information and present it clearly and concisely.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proactive, self-driven, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with research databases and tools.

  • Public policy, political science, or strong analytical research background.
  • Have a deep technical understanding (junior, senior, master’s, PhD) in a relevant discipline – advanced manufacturing, aerospace & defense, energy & natural resources, life sciences/biotech, outdoor products & rec, emerging technology (blockchain, ML, AI, AR/VR, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth research on a variety of policy issues, political trends, and related topics to generate insights and inform decision-making on ex: AI, Energy, Healthcare, Retirement, etc.
  • Collaborate with the Utah Legislature Office of Legislative Research and General Council who provides policy research and analysis to individual legislators and legislative committees, commissions, and task forces.
  • Assist in analyzing legislative proposals, government reports, and academic literature to distill key findings and implications.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop well-structured PowerPoint presentations, summarizing research findings for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Help in organizing events, including workshops, seminars, and panel discussions related to policy and political science.
  • Prepare and draft content for various communication channels, such as newsletters, blog posts, and social media updates.
  • Assist in data collection, entry, and analysis to support ongoing research projects.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions to generate new ideas and innovative approaches to policy analysis and advocacy.
  • Stay current with the latest developments in policy and political science, sharing relevant insights with the team.
  • Collaborate with team members on ad hoc tasks and contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.
