Must be a current student or recent graduate in Electrical/Systems or Mechanical Engineering, with strong analytical skills, ability to work independently and in a team, passion for engineering, and a strong interest in public transit and improving mobility for riders in Portland.

The Vehicle Engineering Intern at TriMet will assist in commissioning special tools, reviewing vehicle test reports, tracking reliability metrics, supporting inspections, and validating safety certifiable items for construction.

We are currently seeking talented, ambitious and motivated interns to join our Engineering, Construction, and Planning teams and help us deliver high-quality projects that enhance mobility and accessibility for our customers</li><li>The Vehicle Engineering Department is responsible for the procurement, commissioning, and turn-over of rail vehicles to the operations department of both MAX and WES as well as any other capital programs that modify the rail vehicles.&nbsp;We are also responsible to provide engineering support for vehicle modifications, failure investigations, parts obsolescence resolution as well as provide input on component rebuild, maintenance procedures and vehicle reliability.&nbsp;On occasions we also lend a hand to Portland Streetcar for special projects.</li><li>&nbsp;As an intern with our Vehicle Engineering team, you’ll provide engineering support for the Type 6 Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) procurement project. You will focus on testing, reliability analysis, and integration of the new LRV fleet into our transit system.
