Requirements

  • Undergraduate or Masters student for a technical degree subject
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Solid experience in software programming, especially Python or C++, and in running scientific software programs.
  • Experience of thinking through image analysis problems e.g. use of advanced software like ImageJ, Matlab, Scikit-image or OpenCV.
  • Enjoy working as part of team

Responsibilities

  • Developing deep-learning & algorithmic methods for noise reduction to improve image quality and reduce radiation dose for our systems for detecting fractures in human hands and feet.
  • Integrating a novel detector into a prototype system for intraoral 3D dental imaging.
  • Creating/maturing machine learning models or algorithmic solutions to automatically analyse images from our systems inspecting metal-additive, electronics and composites, building towards NDE4.0
  • Developing methods for noise reduction to improve image quality and reduce radiation dose for our systems for detecting safety critical failures in electronics or composites.
  • The structure of your internship may vary depending on your particular technical strengths and interests. During the summer, the direction may be adjusted depending on how the research and development goes. In all cases, you have an opportunity to make a significant real-world contribution and work with a bright and creative team.
