Responsibilities

  • Providing practical accounting advice to clients (in the form of written papers and/or by way of oral communication) on a variety of technical accounting issues such as group reorganisations, business combinations, share options, lease accounting and complex financial instruments;
  • Staying updated with changes in accounting standards and regulatory and legislation requirements and advising on their implications on clients in our target market;
  • Providing guidance on the application of accounting requirements under IFRS, Irish & UK GAAP and US GAAP, including impact assessment on GAAP conversion;
  • Reviewing financial statements and disclosures to ensure compliant financial reporting;
  • Supporting other FAAS service lines by providing technical advice and resolving any issues related to accounting policies and financial statements
  • Identifying new business opportunities and working with internal contacts to convert leads and opportunities into projects;
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with senior finance personnel;
  • Managing and coaching junior team members;
  • Working closely with other Grant Thornton departments, such as Tax and Corporate Finance, to provide accounting advice in relation to group reorganisation projects or business combinations and valuation models for example to address cross-functional accounting issues; and
  • Promoting FAAS both internally and externally, articulating all FAAS services and the value that we bring to our clients, and representing FAAS at relevant technical seminars.
