Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing a team of three civilian personnel, the Staff Officer provides the lead staff and policy focus within the Headquarters on a wide range of UK rules, regulations and legislation.
  • As the delegated liaison between the ARRC International Community, the HQ, the wider ARRC Group and a range of national, regional and local government departments and organisations, the Staff Officer is responsible for supporting the integration of the PN community into all aspects of broader UK life in accordance with the NATO Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) and the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
  • The Staff Officer is responsible to the Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff (DACOS) Personnel Operations and is the authorised liaison between the Headquarters, the PN community and the wider ARRC group.
  • You will be responsible for providing accurate and updated advice and guidance to international personnel on a wide range of current and emerging topics; these can range from routine enquiries to complex issues which require detailed policy advice from other government departments, external authorities and organisations.
  • For the most part, these are related to housing matters, access to UK healthcare and education, vehicle registration, import & export, banking and tax entitlements - however this list is not exhaustive.
  • A key responsibility of the role is to remain alert to any UK policy or regulatory changes, including any new legislation and procedural changes that may arise and which may impact on the PN community or affect their status as NATO Visiting Forces in the UK.
  • Further responsibilities include provision of induction training and, successful delivery of the monthly PN Working Group, advising and briefing the Grade 7 equivalent military Chair on key issues arising for the agenda.
