Responsibilities

  • The post-holder is to assist with the provision and development of the Pharmacy Technical Services department at the Royal Free Hospital rotating between each manufacturing area (Non-Sterile, Terminally Sterilised Batches, CIVAS and Chemotherapy).
  • The prime function of the job is to prepare medicinal products either as batches or for individual patients against preprepared worksheets.
  • The post-holder is required to work with his/her arms in isolators, Laminar Air Flow Cabinets (LAFCs) for long periods of time, with full concentration.
  • Overalls, gloves and masks are worn when processing.
  • This role requires fine manipulation, so manual dexterity is essential, as is accuracy and attention to detail and good eyesight.
  • The post-holder is expected to have knowledge of and work according to the principles of Good Manufacturing Practice, in order to maintain the department’s Manufacturing “Specials” Licence.
  • He / She will be expected to help the Chief and Senior Technicians in the unit with the training of all new staff working in the unit and re-training of any staff who have been absent from working in that part of the rotation for a long time.
