  • HMP Birmingham Healthcare for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join Birmingham Recovery Team formerly the IDTS (Integrated Drug & Treatment Service).
  • To provide high quality evidence-based nursing care, advice, and support for service users with substance misuse, mental and physical health needs.
  • Completing nursing reviews and observations of patients experiencing withdrawals from drug and alcohol using relevant screening tools such as COWS/CIWA.
  • Supporting with ACCT (Assessment, Care in Custody and Teamwork) process and algorithms for fitness to remain in the Care and Separation Unit.
  • To ensure a high standard of nursing in the application of clinical nursing procedures and treatment including the custody storage and administration of all prescribed medication required for patients’ health and wellbeing.
  • Consulting with internal and external partner agencies to provide continuity of care of Prisoners within HMP Birmingham.

Responsibilities

  • Completing nursing reviews and observations of patients experiencing withdrawals from drug and alcohol using relevant screening tools such as COWS/CIWA.
  • Supporting with ACCT (Assessment, Care in Custody and Teamwork) process and algorithms for fitness to remain in the Care and Separation Unit.
