What qualifications are required for the Biomedical Scientist position?
Candidates must be HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists with a minimum of 2 years post-registration experience in Clinical Biochemistry or Serology.
Is there any consideration for applicants with less than 2 years of post-registration experience?
Yes, applicants with less than 2 years of post-registration experience will be considered if they can demonstrate significant laboratory experience and can be employed as Band 5.
What opportunities for career progression are available?
Once the specialist portfolio in either Clinical Biochemistry or Serology is completed, there will be an automatic promotion to Band 6.
Is previous experience in a multi-disciplinary laboratory setting required?
While it is highly desirable, it is not mandatory; however, previous experience with automated platforms, especially Abbott Alinity, is beneficial.

When does the NWLP induction take place?
The NWLP induction runs on the first Monday of each month, excluding bank holidays, and all new staff must attend during their first week with NWLP.

The successful candidate will participate in the efficient handling, processing, and analysis of samples in various sections of the laboratory under supervision.
