Requirements

Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and tables, or study sample parts to determine the machining operation to be performed and plan the best sequence of operations.
Compute dimensions and tolerances, measure and lay out work pieces.
Set up, operate, and maintain a variety of machine tools, including computer numerically controlled (CNC) tools, to perform precision, non-repetitive machining operations such as sawing, turning, milling, boring, planning, drilling, precision grinding, and other operations.
Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
Set up and program machine tools for use by machining tool operators.
Ensure all documentation is properly filled out, control allocated time on components, route sheets, and equipment maintenance records.
Reporting on quality and operational issues within the department to the department supervisor.
Interfaces with internal customers and other internal departments to ensure timely delivery of custom machined parts.
Applies knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
Possess knowledge of higher-level Machining Specialist machines prototypes components (parts) used in the assembly and testing of R&D projects and has a comprehensive understanding in the machining of standard and exotic materials.
Promote a safe environment and ensure safety while handling workpieces.
Ensure daily maintenance and cleaning of equipment for efficient function and to minimize downtime, identify equipment problems, and communicate solutions as required or needed.
Needs to be proficient with AutoCAD and Alibre design software.
The applicant must have at least 1 year of experience as a machinist, specifically with CNC programming experience.
The successful candidate must have completed secondary school or have a credential assessment confirming equivalency.
The completion of a 2-year Electromechanical Engineering Technician course is an asset.
The applicant must speak, read, and write in English.
