Requirements

  • - The post will form part of the Clinical Directorate of Emergency Medicine.
  • - The post holder will be expected to support the Clinical Director across the whole range of their managerial and administrative functions.
  • - All consultants are eligible for consideration of appointment by the Chief Executive to the office of Clinical Director.
  • - Specifically adopt, in conjunction with colleagues, an active role in the planning, development and delivery of the Emergency Service for the Directorate.
  • - Provide director input to patients; contribute to multi-disciplinary teams and lead the coordination of care for patients within Preston and Chorley Hospitals.
  • - Participate in the Consultant on-call rota at the Royal Preston Hospital and Chorley and South Ribble Hospitals with additional cover during colleague's absence.
  • - Assume a continuous commitment for the care of patients, even if employed less than full time, and ensure that adequate arrangements are made for leave and off duty periods.
  • - Promote high professional standards of clinical care for patients, both through direct patient care and by the maintenance of continuing professional development.
  • - Develop close links with General Practitioners operating in the area.
  • - Exercise the freedom to develop specialist elements of the services to reflect perceived priorities within available resources.
  • - Clinical duties will include all those duties normally expected of a Consultant in a similar sized Emergency Department in the United Kingdom.
