Requirements

  • M.A. or Ph.D. in Russian or registered in the Russian Studies graduate program at McGill. Native or near native fluency in Russian required.
  • A minimum of two semesters as instructor of a course at a similar level or to be a graduate student in Russian Studies in the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at McGill University. Course lecturers must demonstrate a familiarity with the course materials used in Russian Studies language courses.
  • McGill University is an English-language University where most teaching and research activities are conducted in the English language, thereby requiring English communication both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • a) preparation of the Course and Course plan;
  • b) delivery of the Course;
  • c) evaluation of students;
  • d) submitting to the University a report on student attendance and student grades;
  • e) supervision of Teaching Assistants or any other teaching support staff;
  • f) upon request, review of their students’ grades;
  • g) meeting with students, being available to answer questions and give advice concerning Course content and requirements;
  • Employees shall perform their duties in compliance with the Pedagogical Regulation and as specified in the administrative directives of the Hiring Unit. An Employee shall use appropriate pedagogical methods and material.
