Requirements

  • High School graduation, plus one year of post-secondary education, plus four years of related experience

  • Computer experience required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook preferred).
  • Experience in an academic health care setting is an asset.
  • Effective oral and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to type 60 wpm and to operate a normal range of office equipment.
  • Ability to type letters, memos, and reports, often of a specialized nature specific to the field of pediatrics.
  • Ability to take and transcribe minutes.

  • All positions in the Department of Pediatrics at BC Children’s Hospital require a Criminal Record Check (CRC).

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the application process for the fellowship program
  • Coordinates the application process for the clinical trainee program
  • Follows through with documentation to Department of Pediatrics, the Postgraduate Medical Education Dean's office and hospital credentials office
  • Responds to oral and written enquiries regarding the fellowship program
  • Maintains the fellows rotation schedule
  • Prepares and distributes Web evaluations for each fellow’s rotation
  • Updates, maintains and distributes learning objectives for fellows and residents
  • Assists Education Director to liaise with Chair of the Subspecialty Program Committee of the Department of Pediatrics
  • Organizes and attends tri-monthly Subspecialty Residency Training Committee meetings. Records minutes. Follows up issues raised
  • Organizes and attends tri-monthly Scholarly Overview Committee meetings. Records minutes. Follows up issues raised
  • Assists fellows with research projects and presentations and preparing for examinations
  • Coordinates education funds through hospital accounting, arrange for payment of invoices, deposits and travel reimbursements. Reconciles ledger each month
  • Coordinates weekly fellows tutorial
  • Uses considerable knowledge, discretion, judgment in handling fellows and trainees concerns and requests
  • Assists with the development of innovative and creative ways to deliver high quality physician education
  • Maintains records for the Continued Medical Education requirement of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC. Provides annual certificates
  • Updates the Director of the Fellowship program and the Divisional Head of fellows and residents concerns and feedback, and assists in providing creative strategies to issues raised
  • Develops and maintains a database of alumni of the divisional fellowship program
  • Provides other administrative support to the divisional education program
