What is the role of an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)?
An Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) is responsible for transporting ill or injured patients from emergency scenes and between facilities, assessing emergency scenes and patients, providing simple treatments, and completing required documentation such as patient care reports.

What are the available work hours for this position?
The position offers shifts of 12 hours each, with a rotation pattern that includes days, evenings, nights, weekends, and on-call responsibilities.
What are the required qualifications for this position?
Candidates must complete an accredited Emergency Medical Responder or Primary Care Paramedic program, be actively registered with the Alberta College of Paramedics as an Emergency Medical Responder, hold a current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification, and possess a valid Class 4 Alberta Operator's Licence with no more than six demerits.
Is there a financial incentive for working in this position?
Yes, there is a Northern Allowance that can provide an annual maximum of $6,300, which is non-pensionable and payable on an hourly basis for all hours worked at the basic rate of pay.
What is the process for proving Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) completion?
Applicants must provide proof of successful completion of the F.A.R.E. test via a certificate from Lifemark, taken within six months of the application date. AHS may verify the results with Lifemark.
