  • Technical Training with High School Diploma and 15 years’ experience or associate degree and 8 years of experience
  • Hands-on experience with radar systems to include maintenance, system operation, and calibration

  • Must have strong communication skills with inter-organizational and outside customer contacts and the ability to work well in a small team environment

  • Ability to travel 50-75% CONUS/OCONUS
  • Experience leading team of mechanical technicians on complex overhauls of various systems (preferred)
  • Refurbishment/overhaul experience on radar and other systems (preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with ground radar systems including RIR-778, RIR-779, FPS-134, RIR-980, Nike, and KTM pedestal in addition to other systems (preferred)
  • Electronic test equipment (preferred)
  • Experience performing crane lifts of radar systems for refurbishment activities (preferred)
  • Corrosion control and prevention experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Inspects, tests, adjusts and rebuilds basic to complex electro-mechanical assemblies, subassemblies, parts and systems.
  • Uses blueprints, schematics, manuals, hand tools and precision testing equipment to perform repairs and refurbishments.
  • Performs maintenance, repair, corrosion control, and general refurbishment of a wide variety of instrumentation equipment and subcomponents.
  • Leads Depot Level Maintenance (DLM) team in planning and implementation of complex refurbishment/overhaul activities.
  • Repairs basic to complex malfunctions by adjusting, calibrating, aligning, or modifying electrical circuits and mechanical components using hand and power tools.
  • Leads refurbishment team to accomplish tasks around the world and often in an austere environment within a predefined timeline. Rebuilds gearboxes, recommends required maintenance for specific systems. Troubleshoots mechanical problems and implements solutions.
  • Uses micrometers, Vernier calipers, dial indicators, and other precision measuring tools to ensure products meet in-process and final tolerances.
  • Operates standard machine shop equipment to construct, rebuild or repair metal / mechanical / fiberglass / carbon fiber/ parts and equipment.
  • Sets up standard test apparatus and conducts operational tests to evaluate performance and reliability of systems under test.
  • Installs equipment and field upgrades. Assembles and/or modifies wires, insulation and components using hand and power tools. Installs assemblies and hardware into housing.
  • Complete corrosion control, antenna repairs, and pedestal repairs on a wide variety of radar & telemetry systems.
  • Previews designs or specifications for completeness, accuracy, adequacy and compliance with company and/or customer specifications.
  • Supports design, development, fabrication, integration, installation and post testing of rebuilt or modified equipment.
  • Develops and/or prepares plans, designs, specifications, test procedures, parts lists, etc. for refurbishments.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
