What is the primary focus of the Fluid System Design Engineer role?
The primary focus of the Fluid System Design Engineer role is to undertake rig design to support Verification and Validation (V&V) and production testing of Nuclear Steam Raising Plant components for submarines.
Where is the position located?
The position is located in Derby at the Rolls-Royce main offices at Raynesway.
What kind of teams will I be working with?
You will be working in multi-discipline teams, collaborating with internal resources, external design partners, and equipment suppliers, alongside like-minded mechanical and electrical engineers and the facilities/operations team.
What qualifications are required for this role?
A degree (or equivalent) in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or another science or engineering discipline with thermo-fluids content is required.
Is experience in a regulated industry necessary for this role?
While not strictly required, experience in a relevant heavily regulated industry such as Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Energy, Water, or Nuclear is desirable.
Are hybrid working arrangements available for this position?
Yes, hybrid working arrangements are available, allowing employees to balance their time between the office and remote locations.
What specific skills or experience are desirable for this role?
Desirable skills and experience include designing process plant facilities, specifying, designing, justifying, or operating complex fluid/chemical process systems, and experience with 1D flow modelling software, specifically FloMaster.
What types of projects will I be working on?
You will be working on designing new and modifying existing multi-million-pound test rig designs for testing related to research and technology, V&V, component qualification, and through-life performance requirements.
Is security clearance required to work in this position?
Yes, a Security Check clearance is required to work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines business, and support for the application for Security Clearance will be provided if you do not already have it.
