Requirements

  • A degree level or equivalent within a relevant field of study. Recently graduated or first professional experience in the field of Control Systems, Instrumentation Engineering, Systems Engineering or Mechatronic, Automation Engineering
  • Strong verbal and written communication in our business language (English)
  • A desire to work in a collaborative team environment, focused on driving future innovation
  • We are interested to hear from graduates with some experience and interest in at least one of the following areas: Structures, Metrology, Hydraulics, Control Systems, Data Acquisition & Instrumentation, Virtual Test & Simulation, AI & Machine Learning, Structural and Mechanical Testing.
  • The ability to be self aware and a wish to be in the driving seat of your development.

Responsibilities

  • You will be on a development pathway to prepare you to be a Test Technologist and can expect to be involved in the following:
  • In this position you will join the Airbus structures test team at the Aerospace Integrated Research and Test Centre (AIRTeC) in Filton, Bristol.
  • As a Test Technologist, you can expect to be involved in supporting research and development activities within a specific field or engineering discipline through the application of known engineering principles and practices. You would develop new test rigs, test methods, processes and tools by delivering specialisms in:
  • Control Systems
  • Hydraulics System Design
  • Data Acquisition & Instrumentation
  • Advanced Measurement/Metrology, Analytics & Correlation
  • Hydrogen/Cryogenic Testing
  • As a graduate you will continue to develop your specialist control systems & instrumentation knowledge but will be encouraged to work across all of the test teams.
  • You will also be supported to undertake placements in other areas of our business to build a rounded understanding of the business and key relationships that the test centre has with other teams in the aircraft design process.
  • Tests big & small: Designing test systems for small material coupons up to large static and fatigue tests of whole aircraft wings.
  • Working at the forefront of digital technologies: Using AI and Data Driven Platforms - developing and deploying advanced measurement techniques and virtual simulation test means.
  • Developing and commissioning advanced test control systems e.g. hydraulic loading
  • Building a “cool” future: designing & commissioning new cryogenic test facilities for hydrogen powered flight
  • At the end of the 2 year development programme you will be fully equipped to be a key player as a Test Technologist - Control Systems & Instrumentation.
