What is the role of a Junior Clinical Fellow in Acute Medicine?
The Junior Clinical Fellow in Acute Medicine is responsible for providing junior level experience in a teaching hospital, supporting the Medical Assessment Unit (MAU), Emergency Department (ED), and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC), while receiving extensive training in Acute Medicine and ambulatory care.
Will I receive supervision and support in this role?
Yes, all junior clinical fellows are allocated an educational supervisor who will work with you to develop your skills and knowledge, help maintain logbooks, and support your portfolio development.
What kind of training will I receive?
You can expect extensive training in every aspect of Acute Medicine and ambulatory care, including opportunities to participate in weekly teaching sessions in MAU.
Where is the position located?
The position is based at Royal Preston Hospital within the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
What kind of experience will I gain from this role?
You will gain experience equivalent to FY2/ST1-2 across all main medical sub-specialties in a supportive and educationally focused environment.
Will I be working with other healthcare professionals?
Yes, you will work closely with GP and Emergency Department colleagues while accepting patients for assessment in SDEC.
Is there an opportunity for cross-site working?
Yes, there may be some cross-site working as and when required.
