What is the work environment like for a Licensed Practical Nurse in the Acute Geriatric Unit (AGU)?

What qualifications are required for this position?
Candidates must have completed an accredited practical nurse education program and be actively registered or eligible for a practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification is also needed.
Is prior experience necessary for this position?
Yes, a minimum of 1 year of experience as an LPN in an acute medical or surgical unit within the last 2 years is required. However, new graduates who completed their final preceptorship in an acute geriatric unit may also be considered.
What are the shift patterns for this position?
The position requires night shifts, with a total of 12 shifts per cycle and a length of 7.75 hours for each shift.
What is the salary range for this role?
The salary ranges from a minimum of $27.58 to a maximum of $36.13 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

What additional certifications are preferred for candidates?
