Requirements

  • 3-5 years of design and product development experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • Understanding of Finite element methodology, experience with tolerance analysis as well as in the design of plastic, zinc & aluminum die-cast and sheet metal components plus the experience in the design of electronic modules.
  • Demonstrated Mastery of a mechanics of materials including plastics and metals.
  • Expert user knowledge in CAD (NX, Catia V5).
  • Demonstrated understanding of most new product development processes and workflows.
  • Works well in a Team environment and guides the team as the “expert” in a mechanical design and mechanics of materials, capable of leading a sub-team formed around the technical expertise.
  • Experience with European OEM’s.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with the various functional departments and present design solutions.
  • Develop new products that support current product lines or help establish new product lines utilizing NX, CATIA V5 (NX preferred)
  • Conduct analysis and research on existing products mechanical characteristics for optimization and cost reduction purposes.
  • Support new product development projects from concept through preparation of turnover to manufacturing.
  • Selection of suitable construction materials taking into consideration mechanical, environmental, and economic requirements.
  • Support FEA structural simulations and thermal analyses for vehicle antenna products across global sites.
  • Support diagnostics efforts, perform methodical troubleshooting, and recommend mitigation measures. Reduce design and tooling iterations using predictive modeling and simulation.
  • Technical Environment: NX, CATIA V5, FEA modeling and analysis, Hyper Mesh, ABAQUS.
  • Analyze test results and the effect of material properties, geometry, and test conditions.
  • Analyze the various mechanical load conditions on the antenna components.
  • Work directly with internal teams to identify requirements, establish expectations, and meet agreed upon mechanical performance, and goals for projects.
  • Interpret analysis results with respect to results obtained by lab testing procedures.
  • Writing reports and preparing presentations for summarizing the analysis results and reviewing all project-related analysis results for ensuring the accuracy of project reports
  • Utilize lessons learned and test results to recommend design improvements.
  • Adheres to quality and safety systems or maintenance of quality and safety standards.
