Responsibilities

  • Interpret and transcribe a variety of medical reports and correspondence regarding patients’ assessments, workups, therapeutic procedures, clinical course, diagnoses, prognosis, etc., to document and facilitate healthcare delivery.
  • Operate and utilize designated word processing, dictation, and transcription equipment as directed to complete assignments.
  • Meet the required efficiency standards set by doctors or the department.
  • Provide quality transcription using proper resources and proofreading of own work.
  • Ensure confidentiality of the contents of transcribed reports.
  • Demonstrate excellent listening, written, and oral communication skills, including English usage, grammar, punctuation, and style.
  • Assist and coordinate department administrative work.
  • Work under pressure within time constraints.
  • Follow department or doctor’s formatting requirements for reports.
  • Understand diverse accents and varying dictation styles.
  • Exhibit good eye, hand, and auditory coordination.
  • Comply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards, and procedures, and cooperate with hospital management to meet these requirements.
