Responsibilities

  • Lead packaging engineering design work for key innovation projects from concept to manufacture, using Unilever best practice and design tools and methodologies.
  • Partner with internal and external teams to create engineering solutions to deliver the Brand / R&D ambitions.
  • Generate and refine structural packaging solutions using engineering tools (CAD, simulation, prototyping & testing) to develop and validate with rigour and speed.
  • Use 3D printing and prototyping technologies to bring design ideas to life and enable the technical testing of new ideas and solutions.
  • Support packaging workstream leaders in the technical development of components, gathering and interpreting quantitative data and insights to aid decision making.
  • Support the briefing process, collaborating and guiding the design delivery of external engineering and simulation agencies.
  • Create and manage CAD data in support of projects, creating detailed component designs, 2D drawings and robust component specifications, under guidance from senior engineers and packaging work-stream leaders.
  • Liaise with global suppliers and development partners to provide information, within strict data version control guidelines.
  • Support the design capability build programme – delivering engineering tools, processes and simulation capabilities used to ensure new packaging is landed in the market right first time.
  • Regularly contribute to cross category Design Communities of Practice in areas of specialist expertise.
