Responsibilities

  • To lead a specialist Physiotherapy Service for adults with complex learning disabilities, some of whom have physical disabilities and/or autism; undertaking clinical diagnoses, assessment and interventions for communication and swallowing difficulties.
  • To deliver a high standard of care using an holistic, person centred approach on a daily basis and providing clinical leadership, teaching and supervision to members of the team.
  • To be an autonomous practitioner, holding a small mixed clinical caseload working without direct supervision within the context of a multi-disciplinary team supporting various pathways.
  • To support less experienced staff, students and colleagues deliver the Trust contracted services.
  • To provide expert advice in relation to Physiotherapy for adults with learning disability; signposting and providing guidance and information to health and social care professionals, clients, carers and relatives.
  • To assist and deputise for the Allied Health Professional Lead in relation to Physiotherapy clinical and professional issues.
