Responsibilities

  • As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families.
  • You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance.
  • You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

What is the Transitional Graduate Nurse (TGN) Recruitment Program?

The TGN Recruitment Program is designed for newly graduated Registered Nurses and Registered Psychiatric Nurses to work under the guidance of a clinical guide, providing holistic care while transitioning into their nursing roles. It is not open to individuals with prior nursing experience or specific program completions.

What qualifications are required to apply for this position?

Applicants must have completed an accredited nursing education program and must be active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification is also required.

What kind of support do TGN employees receive during their transition?

The shift pattern includes Days, Nights, and Weekends, with days off as per rotation.

What is the pay range for a Provisional Permit Holder in this role?

Provisional Permit Holders will be paid between $35.87/hour and $43.82/hour, with an adjustment to the RN rate upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses.

Are there any specific courses required if I haven't practiced as a Registered Nurse in the last five years?

Yes, completion of the CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification is required.

What is the primary working location for this position?
