Requirements

  • 2.1 Degree, ideally in science, technology, engineering or an information science subject or in a humanities subject along with a detailed interest in computer modelling, programming, or the application of technology within innovative businesses.
  • A minimum of 120 UCAS Tariff points from your top 3 A-levels, or equivalent (300 using the old tariff).
  • Possess an interest in software and technology along with a knowledge of key IT systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrable English Language skills, both verbally and written, with experience of writing reports or longer documents.
  • Experience with preparing a presentation or dissertation on a technical subject as part of degree course.
  • Interest in latest developments in innovation and technology.
  • Willingness to attend external events and assist with handling questions and queries.
  • Communication skills, in particular an ability to articulate complex topics in layman’s terms.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and complete R&D tax claims, liaise with the client’s tax advisor to submit amended tax computations, and communicate with HM Revenue & Customs to ensure efficient processing of the R&D claims.
  • Attend technical discussion with the Firm’s R&D clients, and draft claim documentation for submission to HM Revenue & Customs for review.
  • Identify potential problem areas and involve managers/partners as appropriate.
  • Assist with reviewing R&D claims as part of tax due diligence assessment.
  • Assist with preparing budgets for R&D tax claim work, monitor own performance against those budgets and assist the Director in analysing time incurred on projects.
  • Produce clear and technically accurate reports and computations for submission to HM Revenue & Customs and clients.
  • Keep up to date with tax legislation and developments within the profession.
  • Assist in the administration of the R&D tax team business development activities.
