Requirements

  • - You must have an undergraduate degree in a relevant subject (neuroscience, psychology).
  • - Previous experience of laboratory work is essential.
  • - In addition, past experience of performing experiments involving rodent behaviour and/or systems neuroscience approaches is highly desirable.
  • - Computer literacy, including experience of a range of software packages is essential – in the lab we most frequently use python.
  • - Good numerical skills, understanding of statistical concepts and a meticulous approach to practical work and record keeping are also essential.
  • - You will have experience and the confidence and willingness to work collaboratively, a commitment to continuous professional development, and an ability to conduct research with integrity and accountability such that results obtained can be reproduced easily by others.

Responsibilities

  • - Perform state of the art behavioural assays with simultaneous monitoring and manipulation of neural activity
  • - Analyze and interpret these data
  • - Assist in behavioural training, viral circuit tracing and 1p miniaturised microscopy
  • - Engage in training in python, machine learning and reinforcement learning approaches, snRNAseq, and activity manipulation approaches
  • - Gain experience of other aspects of a state of the art systems neuroscience lab
