  • Bachelor’s degree or up to four years of college-level work, with a degree in geography, geospatial data science, cartography, or similar.
  • 4 to 6 years of experience in the field of GIS and remote sensing, with geospatial prioritization, analysis, and reporting across multiple countries, languages, time zones, and high levels of proficiency with software.
  • Expert-level user of GIS software. Proficient with software systems such as ArcGIS and QGIS, terminology, and procedures. Skilled in learning and adapting new software and programming applications.
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in developing and delivering user training and end-user support.
  • Team player and ability to effectively partner and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Preferred
  • Fluency in Spanish, Portuguese and/or French.

Responsibilities

  • - Lead the reporting of the spatial component of the project, presenting intermediate & summary results to internal and external audiences.
  • - Support the development of the spatial data component of the Ecosystem restoration IP platform, reviewing the design and specs, managing and updating the spatial data component of the platform, guaranteeing a consistent geospatial database.
  • - Attend workshops and other relevant meetings to represent the project and present results.
  • - Provide maps and monitoring metrics for technical reports about the program.
  • - Coordinate the spatial monitoring working group for the program with focal points from countries.
  • - Maintain all program guidance & methodology updated, organized, and accessible to support program’s knowledge management and learning.
  • - Create maps about the country projects to illustrate communication materials about the program.
  • - Provide support to partners and Communities of Practice on spatial data tools and analysis as needed.
  • - Manage sub-contract mapping work as necessary.
  • - Support the development of monitoring framework for the Ecosystem Restoration Integrated Program (ERIP) through the Global Coordination Project (GCP). This will include agreeing on unified robust methodology and rolling out protocols.
  • - Compilation, consolidation, curation and analysis of spatial data from all 20 country projects.
  • - Manage the GCP spatial database, guaranteeing robustness of data and methodology.
  • - Provide technical assistance to country projects on spatial data monitoring.
  • - Provide capacity building and training to country projects on the chosen methodology and tool for spatial data monitoring.
  • - Develop and provide guidance materials to countries on spatial data collection, prioritization, and monitoring protocols.
  • - Experience in conducting ROAM methodology, and other landscape-level assessment and prioritization exercises.
  • - Develop tutorials and training materials as needed to support country projects.
  • - Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
