What qualifications are needed to apply for the Staff Nurse position in Intensive Care?
Applicants should be a newly qualified Registered Nurse or have a desire to develop in the Intensive Care setting. Previous ICU or acute hospital experience is not required.
What kind of training will new hires receive?
New hires will undergo a structured 16-week induction program that includes classroom-based training, supernumerary practice, and study days in pain management, epidural management, and Immediate Life Support.
Is there an opportunity for further education and career progression?
Yes, after the structured pathway, new staff will be prepared for enrolment in a university-based Critical Care Course, which provides a pathway to progress to a Band 6 role.
What types of patients will I be working with in this position?
You will be working with patients across various specializations including Cardiac Surgery, Upper GI, Hepatobiliary, Renal, Cardiology, and Haematology.
