What type of ward is Denver Ward?
Denver Ward is an acute emergency surgical ward that specializes in Colorectal and lower GI surgery, as well as other general surgery.
What qualifications are required to apply for the Staff Nurse position?
Applicants must be Registered Nurses with full NMC registration in the UK. Internationally trained nurses who have not passed their OSCE will not be considered.
Is there a support program for new registrants?
Yes, new registrants are welcomed onto the RCN accredited Preceptorship Academy, which offers a supportive development transition into their new role.
What type of experience can staff expect to gain on Denver Ward?
Staff will gain a wealth of knowledge and skill from caring for patients following major surgery and those stepping down from ITU.
Are night shifts required for this position?
Yes, flexibility is required as staff are expected to work across all shifts including nights.
What is the aim of the new electronic patient record (EPR) being implemented at The QEH?
The aim of the EPR is to replace paper-based patient records by 2026, leading to better, safer, joined-up care at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and beyond.
