Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate the acoustic design development and control of noise and vibration throughout the design and construction technical life cycles, working with the Employer, Designers’ Noise and Vibration team, suppliers, and other contractors delivering other parts of the track system and stakeholders.
  • Responsible for the N&V design aspects for a high-speed track contract. The track systems N&V scope includes the selection of a track system to mitigate the ground-borne N&V as far as reasonably practicable, comply with the client’s environmental minimum requirements, taking all reasonable steps to ensure that environmental impacts are no worse than those stated in the Environmental Statement and achieve the above by demonstrating that the insertion gain (IG) is equal or better than the criteria set out in the client’s specifications for each area.
  • Close coordination with other design disciplines and components of the track and rail systems components design, and liaison with the Designer to ensure the delivery on time, optimized and in accordance with the Client’s requirements is essential. This will also require working close with stakeholders and other contractors delivering other parts of the track system.
  • The candidate will be responsible for leading the N&V design aspects relevant to the works.
  • Attend the weekly meetings with the construction team and broader design team and client in Birmingham and/or London.
  • Attending / chairing meetings for N&V issues during design and construction and provide technical support for their mitigation.
  • Support the Client with identifying change, risk and opportunities and constantly striving for efficiencies and cost savings.
  • Aid in the study of optimization and liaison with the commercial, planning, design delivery teams, and designers.
  • Support the link and coordination with construction teams for management of N&V related issues, especially providing advise and leading the selection of track elements that comply with the N&V requirements set in the contract.
  • Provide technical input and support to relevant commercial communications (SNCs, NCRs, CEs, Departures, etc.).
  • Close out N&V issues within area of responsibility in timely manner.
  • Review of monitoring reports and certificates. Support progressive technical assurance during design, construction and handover process.
