Requirements

  • The role will rotate to participate in a full shift pattern to provide 24-hour cover.
  • This is EWTD compliant and the frequency of on call is 1 in 10.
  • Regular attendance of antenatal and gynaecological clinics.
  • Supporting antenatal triage/day assessment.
  • Attendance/assistance in theatre lists for elective and emergency obstetric and benign gynaecology/gynae oncology cases.
  • Participation in mandatory training, audit, quality improvement and clinical governance.
  • Other parts of the rotation will be based with the Gynae Oncology Team providing ward based care for their patients and getting training in all aspects in the care of these women; including time with the palliative team and in theatre.
  • Communication: This will include responsibility for and arrangement of:
  • (i) Communication and liaison with all other medical and service departments within the hospital including:
  • General Management, Medical Records, Social Work Department
  • (ii) Communication with General Practitioners will include telephone discussion of problems and writing of letters about cases seen in the department
  • (iii) Communication with other hospitals and special departments in other hospital.
