Responsibilities

  • Biomedical Scientists are responsible for analysing samples to aid in the diagnosis and monitoring of disease processes and monitoring of drug therapy by the application of automated, semi-automated and manual analytical techniques.
  • As a Biomedical Scientist the post holder will be responsible for the delegated tasks required for the delivery of a clinical technical service that will achieve the objectives of efficient and effective patient care.
  • They will be expected to work as part of a team on a rotational basis in all of the diagnostic sections of the laboratory performing the work to the required standards.
  • The post holder will rotate through the various sections whilst maintaining an up to date knowledge of Clinical Chemistry and current working practices within the diagnostic laboratory.
  • Following a satisfactory competency assessment, the post holder will be contactable on an emergency telephone line and work autonomously to provide an out of hours analytical Clinical Chemistry service for the Trust.
