Requirements

  • Current enrollment in an accredited college or university leading towards a bachelor’s degree with major course work in a related field of study, preferably in an International Business, International Relations, and/or Communications.
  • Internships for students graduating with a 4 year degree.
  • Strong organizational and research skills
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to problem-solve and work independently
  • Interest in and commitment to international relations and cooperation
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Experience with social media (including Twitter and LinkedIn)
  • Experience in event planning is desirable
  • Knowledge of a second language is desirable

Responsibilities

  • General office administration
  • Build professional relationships with City of Charlotte employees, elected officials, and the international business community
  • Follow-up with companies on sponsorships, tickets, and nomination details
  • Community outreach to our diverse population to encourage event attendance
  • Database maintenance - updating and maintaining the MICA invitation databases
  • Event management and execution
