Requirements

  • Hands-on programming experience: particularly in one or more of Python, Go, or JavaScript.
  • Deep passion for security: This could be demonstrated through your involvement in extra-curricular activities such as Capture The Flag (CTF) competitions, bug bounty programs, conducting security research, or undertaking software development projects. Any self-initiated security-relevant projects that showcase your dedication and skill will be highly regarded.
  • Strong communication skills: We value candidates who can articulate complex technical concepts and strategies to a broad audience, including stakeholders from various disciplines.
  • A solid understanding of core computer science principles and security concepts is fundamental.
  • A curiosity for understanding how complex applications work under the hood, and a keen eye for finding and exploiting vulnerabilities.
  • Proficiency using MacOS and Linux.
  • Additional Requirements:
  • Once you complete your internship, high-performing interns may become eligible for full-time offers into Apple's Graduate Program. This is a rotational training program designed to accelerate the learning and careers of our graduate employees within Apple IS&T.
  • This role is only available to students enrolled in their penultimate year of study, who will graduate and be available to begin full time employment in Summer 2025.

Responsibilities

  • During your three month internship with us, you will:
  • Drive a project where you’ll conceptualise and develop tooling to augment the capabilities of Apple's security engineers. This is a unique opportunity to showcase not just your technical skills, but your communication and presentation skills to demonstrate the impact of your project.
  • Immerse yourself in the dynamic world of security engineering in Apple Retail. You’ll gain first hand experience and insight into the day-to-day activities of our full time security engineers.
  • Join a talented team with a wide range of responsibilities, including:
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). This involves providing security guidance through design reviews and threat models. This will ensure that Apple Retail's continuously evolving features, applications, and services maintain the highest security standards.
  • Engage in cutting-edge offensive security practices, such as red team penetration testing. These proactive engagements are crucial in identifying and mitigating potential vulnerabilities, testing our defences and keeping our systems resilient against emerging threats.
  • Play a pivotal role in shaping the security culture within Apple, through educational presentations, to embed a security-first mindset in our development process.
