Requirements

  • Organised person who is able to multi-task to meet prioritise
  • Good organizer, priority driven, and able to multitask to meet service priorities
  • Experience/Interest in Python (or similar), Shell Scripting, Dev Ops, Cloud Engineering, Cyber Security, Data Analytics.
  • We use all major cloud providers in SAP, so we would like a candidate who wants variety and is interested in getting exposure and hands on experience with AWS, Azure, GCP and AliCloud.
  • Motivated to learn new technology stacks, designs and approaches to technical problems.
  • Student in penultimate year of university.
  • Studying a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computing or similar degree
  • Available to start the 13-month placement in July 2024

Responsibilities

  • You are a service-oriented problem solver who likes to play on a team and dig into the details? You are not afraid to learn something new? – Then we, the team of the Monitoring Data Lake, want your support as an (Placement) DevOps Engineer.
  • Our major tool stack is an Elastic based solution, fully containerized, deployed with a fingertip and follows the infrastructure as code principle. We run it at multiple clouds around the globe.
  • You will work across the whole stack: from Elasticsearch, Kibana and Logstash all the way down to OS-Levels, Package Management with Helm and OpenStack as interface to the clouds. Some things we use:
  • ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) hosted on Openstack
  • Kubernetes
  • Docker
  • Jenkins
  • Helm (K8s package management)
  • Grafana + Prometheus
  • Python (in-house stack automation tool)
  • SAP Development/DevOps Placement Engineer:
  • The Office of the CTO, Cloud Infrastructure & Validation team focuses on the analysis of new technologies and hardware within both SAP internal data centres and on hyperscalers. The team
  • works with many external vendors, such as Intel, VMware, AMD and startups from across Silicon Valley to deliver the best technologies to our internal customers. We work across the full stack with an emphasis on design, validation and architecture at the hardware level. There is a focus on storage, compute and networking systems with a spotlight on performance engineering and automation. The team also works on cloud monitoring technologies and automated deployment of various tools for our cloud infrastructure. As part of the team you will be working on the:- * Design and development of our automated testing infrastructure, written primarily in Python * Design, development and automation of performance tests and SAP Benchmarks with a focus on SAP HANA, storage, networking and compute * Validation of hardware for SAP data centers * Working on PoCs with external vendors Desirable but not necessary skills (training will be provided):- * Linux * Experience with a programming language such as Python, JAVA, C++, C# * Computer Architecture
