What is the role of a Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (TACP)?
The TACP will work in a busy cardiac surgery/ cardiology or cardiac critical care setting, providing excellent patient care while developing skills in clinical practice, education, research, and leadership/management over a two-year Masters program.
What qualifications do I need to apply for this position?
Applicants need to be experienced Cardiac surgery/ Cardiology or Cardiac critical care nurses and must undertake a Masters level qualification in Advanced Clinical Practice, which includes an independent prescriber module.
How long is the training program for the TACP position?
The training program lasts for two years, during which the trainee will participate in a Masters program in Advanced Clinical Practice.
What percentage of my time will be spent studying versus working clinically?
During term-time, the TACP will spend 20% of their time attending university and 80% engaged in clinical work in the workplace.
Will there be support during my training?
Yes, the TACP will be supported by trained Advanced Clinical Practitioners and members of the medical team, and will also be paired with a mentor to help achieve necessary clinical skills.
Are there any opportunities for career development after completing the program?
Yes, successful completion of the program will enable you to work towards independent autonomous clinical practice as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner, opening further career advancement opportunities.
