Responsibilities

  • Advise and assist the Station Health & Safety Officer (SHSO) in all aspects of environmental protection in NIGSU
  • Develop and review the NIGSU Safety, Health, Environmental & Fire (SHEF) manual and policy in conjunction with the SHSO to implement MOD policy regarding the Environmental Protection, associated legislation and provisions
  • Manage and audit the Station’s Energy Management System (EMS) with MOD policy
  • Secretary to the NIGSU Health Safety and Environmental Committee
  • Arrange and conduct a programme of environmental inspections of each work area in conjunction with the SHSO
  • Advise and conduct environmental training and education for NIGSU
  • Manage the Station waste handling, storage, carriage and disposal policy and the fuel spillage plan
  • Liaise with local and national authorities on environmental protection issues
  • Conduct the duties of Unit Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS)
  • Deputise for the SHSO
  • Functionally manage and direct the sub-unit energy and efficiency wardens within NIGSU
  • Within the three months of service, you will be given the opportunity to complete all mandatory training in alignment with MOD policy
