Responsibilities

  • The role will provide support the RN by caring for patients, enhancing the quality of hands on care.
  • The post holder will provide high level support in the provision of quality interventions to meet the needs of patients requiring nursing and clinical care, as an RN assistant.
  • To provide clinical support to implement planned care to patients under the indirect supervision of Registered Nurses.
  • To work within a designated team but with the ability to work independently as required.
  • To demonstrate an awareness of the limits of personal professional practice and knowledge and recognise when to seek appropriate support/advice.
  • To carry out nursing care, e.g. clinical observations, wound care and point of care testing.
  • To undertake clinical tasks e.g. cannulation, venepuncture, ECG, wound care.
  • To supervise Band 2 & Band 3 Healthcare Support Workers, delegating care as appropriate.
  • To participate in case conferences and case review meetings.
  • To keep clear, accurate, contemporaneous patient records of the care provided and its impact.
