What is the work environment for the Assistant Psychologist role?
The Assistant Psychologist will be based full time on the 'all male' Archer Ward at the newly opened Mossley Hill Hospital in South Liverpool, working within a multi-disciplinary team.
What qualifications do I need to apply for this position?
You must have a degree in psychology that confers Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership with the British Psychological Society (BPS).
What types of psychological interventions will I be delivering?
You will deliver 1:1 and group psychological interventions on the ward, as well as support other wards in line with NICE guidance across a variety of presentations.
Will I receive supervision and support in this role?
Yes, you will have access to weekly clinical supervision, line management, reflective practice, and training and CPD opportunities.
What kind of psychological therapies will I gain exposure to?
You will have exposure to therapies including CAT, CFT, ACT, DBT, Narrative Therapy, and CBT for psychosis.
Is there an opportunity for research involvement within this role?
Yes, there is a potential for small scale, clinically relevant research, as well as involvement in audits and service evaluations.
Will I be working independently or as part of a team?
You will be working as part of a well-established team of qualified and assistant psychologists, alongside clinical psychologists, psychiatry, nursing staff, and other AHPs.
Can I expect to develop my skills in systemic interventions?
Yes, Assistant Psychologists will have the opportunity to gain experience in systemic interventions, including reflective practice and possibly facilitating Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) and Self Harm Pathway (SHP).
