Responsibilities

  • Support the provision of the clinical psychology service to patients with acquired brain injury on Portland Ward and following discharge from hospital – in the patients home or other community setting.
  • Work with Honorary assistant psychologists & students on placement and help to guide/support them with their placement activities.
  • Conduct psychometric and other routine psychological assessments.
  • Implement specific therapeutic programmes.
  • Plan, organise and implement psycho-educational interventions.
  • Provide health-related advice to clients, carers and professionals.
  • Use analytical and judgemental skills for assessing clients; choose and apply valid psychological interventions.
  • Provide client intervention and psychometric testing that require prolonged concentration.
  • Provide therapy for relatively uncomplicated clients.
  • Assist with case management, including clients follow up and discharge.
  • Collect, collate and analyse clinical information.
  • Update client/research records and write letters and sections of psychological reports on clinical matters (assessment and treatment).
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of all clinical interventions and liaison on the electronic patient record system.
  • Work as an integrated part of the multidisciplinary team to provide person centred and coordinated care, including regular joint working with colleagues from other professional groups.
