What qualifications are required for the Biomedical Scientist - Microbiology position?
Applicants must be HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists with strong post HCPC registration experience in a diagnostic laboratory and have completed the specialist portfolio in Microbiology. Consideration may also be given to candidates newly HCPC registered with strong Microbiology experience.

Stoke Mandeville Hospital is located on the edge of the market town of Aylesbury, North-West of London in central Buckinghamshire.
What kind of shift system does the laboratory operate?
The laboratory operates a seven-day rota, and qualified Biomedical Scientists are expected to participate in the shift system to ensure continuity of care for patients in the Trust hospitals.
What technology will I be working with in the Microbiology department?
The laboratory is equipped with advanced technologies including Mast Urisystem, Serosep EntericBio, BD Bactec and MGIT, Bruker MALDI ToF, Biomerieux FilmArray, Cepheid GeneXpert, BD Kiestra, BD Phoenix, BD Max, Thermo QS5, Kingfisher, Cobas 4800, Abbott Alinity, Liaison XI, and Geenius.
Will I have opportunities for training and development?
Yes, you will be expected to actively participate in training and development for technical, medical, and support staff, as well as being proactive in your own development and the service.
