Responsibilities

  • This role participates in the 24-hour SHO/ST1-2 rota and benefits from 24-hour middle grade support.
  • The post provides exposure and experience in acute presentations to the ED with rotations through all areas of the department; it is ideal for any candidate planning a career within Emergency Medicine or any acute speciality.
  • It is also suitable for those wishing to pursue a career within General Practice.
  • The post includes 50% of education time.
  • You will be accountable to the medical education team based in the Learning and Resource centre.
  • You will be expected to participate in designing and delivering education, and assisting with the organisation and running of OSCEs and other activities.
  • Active participation and teaching delivery is encouraged.
  • The department holds regular trainee led/consultant moderated case based learning hosted on social media mapped to the RCEM curriculum.
  • The department prides itself on its use of Simulation to provide valuable lessons to all levels of clinicians; staff are encouraged to get involved in both the scenario delivery and planning.
  • In addition, there is regular formal and informal bedside teaching and the opportunity to deliver teaching to the integrated medical students.
  • The department encourages and welcomes involvement in research projects from all levels of practitioners.
