Responsibilities

  • To work under the supervision of the Consultant Microbiologists/Consultant in Infectious Diseases (alongside other Infection trainees and Clinical Fellows) in the provision of clinical, laboratory and other microbiological and infection consult services to King's College Hospital
  • To work closely with Consultant Microbiologists/Consultant in Infectious Diseases to:
  • provide day to day cover for the communication of important results to clinicians
  • deal with incoming calls and visits, including ID consults, for clinical advice (and document advise as required)
  • discuss, as necessary, serious infections with a Consultant
  • ensure that appropriate clinicians and Infection Control Team are made aware of all 'alter organisms' or possible clusters / outbreak of infection
