Who is eligible to apply for the Orthopaedic Education Fellowship?
The fellowship is aimed at junior registrars post-MRCS and senior SHOs who just missed out on a ST3 national training number.
What are the primary responsibilities of the successful candidate in this role?
The successful candidate will be responsible for the coordination, organization, and delivery of the postgraduate T&O teaching program, along with clinical duties at registrar level, research, and professional development.
What type of clinical experience will the fellow gain during the program?
The fellow will gain experience in both upper limb trauma and lower limb reconstruction/sports/paediatric, including outpatient clinics, inpatient cover, and trauma/elective operating lists.
Is there an opportunity for further education during the fellowship?
Yes, the successful applicant has the opportunity to be enrolled in the University of Bath’s “MSc in Football Medicine in association with FIFA”, with the first-year course fees covered by the T&O department.
How many clinical sessions are included in the fellowship?
The fellowship includes 6 clinical sessions per week.
What are the protected non-clinical sessions dedicated to?
The 4 protected non-clinical sessions are dedicated to organizing departmental teaching, running the annual Imperial FRCS revision course, and optional involvement in the MSc program.
What are the minimum entry requirements for applicants?
Minimum entry requirements include MRCS or equivalent, completion of Core Surgical Training or equivalent, full unrestricted registration with the General Medical Council, and a Bachelor of Medicine or Bachelor of Surgery degree.
