Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of major/complex capital projects (base site and, as required, across BSW) from feasibility/business case to design, construction, commissioning and handover.
  • Deliver safely and compliantly in a live hospital environment, protecting patient care and minimising disruption.
  • Establish project governance and controls (scope, schedule, quality, benefits) in line with Group PMO requirements, Standing Financial Instructions and delegated authority.
  • Manage and escalate risks/issues/change (incl. IPC, fire safety, patient safety and service continuity) with clear audit trails and reporting.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary project teams and coordinate clinical/user groups, Estates operations, and external consultants/contractors (incl. access/decant planning).
  • Lead procurement and contract management (e.g. NEC/JCT), including variations, valuations/payment inputs, and claims/dispute avoidance.
  • Manage delegated budgets and forecasting (cost plans, cashflow, commitments, variances) ensuring value for money and accurate returns.
  • Ensure effective commissioning, documentation and Soft Landings (training, O&M manuals, asset/estate records), capture lessons learned, and support team development, sustainability and social value.
