Responsibilities

  • The prospective post holder will be a registered nurse who after appropriate training can clinically assess, plan, deliver and evaluate care to a timescale for patients prior to elective surgery.
  • You will be expected to undertake clinical observations such as blood pressure, pulse, oximetry and BMI as well as clinical examinations such as MRSA screening, CPE screening, 12 lead ECG recording and venepuncture.
  • The prospective post holder will be required to provide a comprehensive nursing and medical assessment, ensuring all necessary results and reviews are collated prior to admission.
  • You will assist in the development of an environment that supports the value of pre-operative assessment by working collaboratively with surgeons, anaesthetist, and the MDT.
  • The candidate will need to have a high level of clinical judgement and decision making skills and be able to carry out clinical duties in accordance with national, Trust and local standards and maintain a patient focused approach.
