What locations are hiring for the Trainee Ambulance Care Assistants position?

What are the primary responsibilities of a Trainee Ambulance Care Assistant?
As a Trainee Ambulance Care Assistant, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality care and safe transportation for non-emergency patients, which includes transporting them to hospital and clinic appointments, inter-hospital transfers, and assisting with patient discharges.
What qualifications do I need to apply for this position?
Applicants should have passes in Standard Grade/’O’ grade/Nat 4 or equivalent in both English and Maths, and must possess a full driving license with no more than 3 penalty points before applying.
Is a specific driving category required for the role?
Yes, successful candidates will need to have category C1 on their driving license at least 6 weeks before their start date. Preference will be given to those who already possess this category.
What is the training process for this position?
The training program is conducted at one of our Regional Education Centres and leads to a Level 3 Certificate in Ambulance Patient Care Non-Urgent Care Service, which includes a recognized driving module.
What is the starting salary for Trainee Ambulance Care Assistants?
The starting salary is £23,557 pro rata per annum, which increases to £29,103 pro rata upon successful completion of the training program.
What are the working hours for this job?
Trainee Ambulance Care Assistants will work an average of 36 hours per week, which includes weekend, evening, and public holiday shifts. Part-time applicants are also welcome.
Will I be working independently or as part of a team?
You will be a team player and work alongside other qualified staff who will mentor you during your training.
Are there any fitness requirements for the role?
Yes, as part of the selection process, you will be required to undertake a fitness test.
Do I need permission to work in the UK to apply for this position?
Yes, applicants must demonstrate that they have the relevant permission to work in the UK, and this is verified through NHS Scotland Boards during the pre-employment checks.
Does the position have any requirements regarding criminal record checks?
Yes, due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, the post may require a different level of criminal records check than is currently the case, particularly for roles assessed as "regulated."
